Sat 3rd June was the date for my Last Munro, wanting to do something different and being mildly odd, I decided that it was a hill best done while wearing a dress. I managed to recruit a total of 28 folks to do the hill with me, mostly members of the Ochils Mountaineering Club (Stirling). A couple of mates also came up from Lancashire for the walk.
I decided to make the hut free and collect a few quid for charity, we made about £300 for the charity ‘The Haven Centre’ – a Scottish charity helping folks with ‘life-limiting’ diseases such as Cancer, Parkinson’s etc. You can donate here if you like! We stayed at the Grampian Club Hut ”Inbhirfhaolain”, a couple of KM east of the start of the walk.

Come Saturday, we set off at about 9:30AM, headed west down the road which must have been quite a sight for all that saw us.

A few bemused looks later…

Eventually, we made it to the point where the track starts and headed up the well made track to the top of the trees.

Unfortunately, the heavens opened, and half the outfits got covered up!

The rain cleared and the views began to open out.

The better weather meant that the dresses came back out too!

We had a wee break at the bealach taking in the views.

Eventually, we reached the summit and enjoyed some booze and summit views for a good half hour in the dry.

Me on the trig in my heels!
I had hoped to see some other hill walkers up from the Creran side, but it was not to be, so it fell upon me to award the ‘Best Dressed Hill Walker’ prize. I chose Mhairi and Ian with their matching TK-Max Dresses

The weather threatened on the summit, but the rain never came until we were half way down (when we got drenched), then it cleared again for more nice views:

A grand day out, lots of fun with many good sports. We had a buffet meal in the hut and a ‘few’ drinks that evening! The midges were sheer hell though! My thanks to all who attended.
Thanks for reading, and I can recommend the Inbhirfhaolain hut for anyone seeking traditional mountaineering hut accommodation for their weekend!
