For the past couple of years, the UK importer for Alpacka Packrafts – backcountry.scot – run by a guy named Andy Trop has organised a get-together for packrafters. I was just getting into it around the 2017 gathering, but made the gathering this year.
Showing up at the venue Lagganlia near Kincraig on Friday night it was beers and chatter before a sensible night with lots planned for the following day.
I had signed up together with 8 or so others for a White Water fundamentals course. Having only done a limited amount of white water, I thought this might give me the skills required to take it further. The course was excellent, and well worth the day with lots learnt despite the rather low water levels on the river Feshie.
Sunday saw several groups forming, and I chose to join a couple of others for a paddle down the Spey. We got out at the Bridge Inn, and after a beer, got a taxi back to the start point.
A grand weekend, look forward to next years!
