Lochs Ericht, Laggan and a Ski Tour

With a half decent forecast and a new drysuit (Palm Fuse) to test it was time to get back out in the pack raft (boat) again. I left fairly late and headed up to Dalwhinnie with the intention of having a paddle on Loch Ericht.

Loch Ericht initially looked promising so off I went looking for a place to launch; as is all too common, while I was setting up the boat, the wind started blowing. The initial paddle was manageable, but to my disappointment, once I rounded the corner I was faced with a stiff breeze and 3ft waves. I aborted, played with the drone for a while and then headed back to the van and drove around to Loch Laggan instead which I hoped would be better.

Thankfully, Loch Laggan was much better being sheltered from the wind by some mountains, There is also an island to explore with the remains of an old building, and much scenery to point my new drone at (Mavic Air). Needless to say, I got rained upon.

I also took some drone 360’s while I was out in the boat – uploading them to google maps.

If you watched my wee video then you’ll see that Sunday was spent Ski-Touring. I drove around to Cairngorm on Saturday evening a friend joined me later with his van. We did an easy tour skiing wise as Cabey (the chum) is pretty new to skiing let alone touring – but we still covered reasonable distance. We went up the Cas Fiacaill, down into Coire Raibeirt, and then wandered our way over to Ben Macdui before heading back to the vans via Lurchers gully. A grand day out.
